Personality:
Positive Trait: Charismatic:

On the surface, Vox is a charming demon with a bright, booming voice, a toothy, friendly smile (for a demon), and he has all the right words to keep the masses eating out of his clawed hands. This is shown time and again in his broadcasts that are the mainstay of media in the city, specifically designed by him that way. Broadcasts that mix scandalizing news with paparazzi stories meant to dazzle and mesmerize his viewers with his personality. A carefully crafted persona brought together from frenzied cult leader and slick televangelist stylings, even to the point of literally blasting the words obey and pray across the screen. Vox brings it all together into an intentionally spellbinding media personality that he uses in everything from print ads, posters and of course television… everything but radio that he loudly proclaims to all who will listen - and they all do because of his manipulative tricks - is outdated and behind the citizens of Hell.

It’s all a carefully groomed persona, worked on over the decades, to give him the magnetism he needs to get what he wants in Hell - to be a household name, the leader in innovation and products. He uses this charisma to bring together the demons of Pentagram City through his media business where he is the main face of VoxTek, broadcasting his programs to all of the city where he has ensured he is the only system to buy, the only products to use, and therefor is in every home and on every street corner. On screen and in person, he is gregarious in drawing in others, convincing them they need him and what he sells to make their life better in Hell; something he does through knowing the right words, using pretend generosity and empathy, and laying on the snake oil salesman charm.

When he turns on that full charm, he is the picture of a TV game show host mixed with the kind of cult leader that leads followers to where they already are, Hell. Through it all he has a way of making the people, well demons, feel that he is there for him and they eat it up. Throughout the series Vox turns on that charm for his own good, and it is a very practiced skill to bring others to him. While he has other skills to ensure he gets what he wants, the first one that Vox uses is that outgoing personality pretending to be a man of the people to steer things the way he wants; money, power, control.

Negative Trait: Manipulative:

While Vox shows himself to be charismatic, that carefully groomed persona is all a game he plays to get what he wants. It is the core part of how he is manipulating Hell as he likely did people in his life as easily as it comes to him. All of Vox’s life in Hell has been about getting what he wants out of everyone and everything. His charisma goes a long way to getting him there, charming the people into buying his company’s products and further building his empire with his partners, the Vees. That charm though is not all he has working for him. Vox leaves very little to chance and uses all he can to get people to do what he wants. Being a TV demon, he can broadcast himself into every tv set and video broadcast all across Pentagram City, thereby ensuring that his is the only voice getting out there. At least through television and anything that isn’t old and dated.

Even that can't be left to chance either. He has an "natural" form of hypnosis wherein he can use his left eye to draw in the masses and ensure their attention and their money on are on him. It's a skill he can use in person, such as when he uses it to get Valentino to behave or even over the screen through his broadcasts, letting him mass hypnotize everyone watching, and even ensure they are watching. He is seen more than once using this, both to get the people of Pentagram City to buy his products as well as to even ensure they listen to him while he degrades his returned rival.

Manipulation is second nature to Vox, often practicing it through charm and demands because what he is wants is more important than anything else. Fleecing the people is one thing and something he doesn't think about, but conscious choices are made to use Val, in his dealings with the council, and on who he is as the CEO and face of his own company. Who he truly is and what he is feeling is only ever seen in the moments when his façade cracks and the sparks, literally, fly.

Negative Trait: Power Hungry:

All that Vox does is to feed his hunger for power and rankings, even if there is only so far a sinner can rise in the ranks of Hell. He has ensured that he is the main, and really only, name in modern technology. His company covers television, security cameras, entertainment (especially through his partner’s porn studio), electronics, fashion, and even food - don't forget your Voot Loops for breakfast. Nothing stops him from providing for the masses, so long as they're showering him in money and attention; even going as far as making up new projects on the spot. Even if he has no idea how to make them work, just so long as the people are paying him for it. This led to creating VoxTek Angelic Security to calm people down over the exterminations. At the time no one is entirely sure how to protect against the extermination angels but he’ll ensure the demons think they can. He will build anything, bigger and better, if it gets him where he wants to be. At the top.

That hunger led to him forming the Overlord group known as the Vees with Valentino and Velvette, knowing that bringing them together would give them a stronger powerbase with backing to support his image. He works with the other Overlords knowing that there’s strength in numbers, even if he holds very little respect for them and thinks he’s better than most of them. That doesn't mean he isn't above manipulating them to get what he wants, even if his partner's short temper endangers that.

This hunger is also a main part of the driving force behind his jealousy, and pretty much twisted obsession, with Alastor. The Radio Demon is the only demon Vox deals with that has the ability and skills to draw the masses away from Vox, even if he won’t admit that’s why he’s so aggressive towards Alastor in particular. Yet in the song, Stayed Gone, he talks about that Alastor's absence opened the door for them to "pivot" to video, finally giving him the opening he needed to build his empire and with the Radio Demon back, he knows that could all crumble.

Negative Trait: Temperamental:

For decades Vox has shaped his entire personality around being the best, the one that everyone pays attention to, and in his mind he’s the center of their world there in the city. He’s charged by electricity though, and his personality is just as easy to spark and blow out as the power is. He can literally change moods like a switch, whether he wants to or not, and in those moments he can't always hide it. Most often though it’s utterly when he doesn’t want to, losing control of his emotions and his powers often where others can see and hear. When lost in these moods, he often says things he doesn't mean to.

When the Radio Demon returns and interrupts his broadcast, Vox ends up shorting out the entire city in his rage, first knocking himself and then everyone offline. Dealing with Valentino, someone he’s involved with but who he is also constantly manipulating, sometimes sets him off despite the smile on his face as seen by the sparks of electricity along his fingers and at his feet. It’s not only anger and frustration though that show his mercurial moods. During the battle with Heaven - which he and the Vees stayed out of, watching it from home like it was an action movie and not their lives hanging in the balance - he gets so overly excited that he makes several proclamations he might not regularly say (Especially in front of the demon he’s banging) about how much he was enjoying the fight and sexually aroused by it, especially watching his rival being beaten.

For someone that has created a very specific image around him that he projects to the world, Vox finds it hard to hold on to his emotions, especially when things don’t go his way. That temperamental nature is the true crack in his charismatic persona, something he is constantly working to hold on to but he isn’t always able to hide in circumstances like he’ll find in the city, something he’ll be working hard to find balance in.

Powers and Abilities: All abilities linked to the network will be curbed as being barely able to connect to the system. He can do so with the device network more, but with the television and such in the city, he won't be able to find a true connection and will hit firewalls trying to make that link.

  • Electrokinesis: The ability to control electricity. He draws on that power as well, and can even cause power outages in his rage. The city is going to cause him issues being a bit older technology and his cutting edge upgrades will help to curb this ability to keep inline with the game.
  • Electronkinetic Transmutation: Basically he can convert to energy and travel by electrical lines. Where he starts from and goes to must have modern visual technology to use this. In game he will have a hard time with this, and with time working with the city’s technology might manage it again.
  • Technokinesis: He has the ability to control electronic devices whether he’s inside of them or from the outside
  • Electrical spark generations: He can intentionally create a spark at his fingertips, all over his body, or even sparking along the floor at his feet.
  • Technological Head: Because Vox is a TV demon, his head is both an electrical extension as well as an extension of his strength as a demon. Through the head he can use bioluminescence to attract certain species, as well as bring focus to his eye during hypnosis. It also allows him to take calls and play video games. When plugged in, he can use the monitor to watch others, tracking them using devices about the area, something he may one day learn in Duplicity but won’t have right away.
  • Hypnosis: Only capable if the victim is focusing on him, and can be used to get their attention, get them to buy things, or to even forget he’s there.
  • Acoustokinesis: Vox can adjust his voice to be softer, more charismatic, end even more intimidating as well as generating sound effects.
